North Sulawesi Starts Conducting COVID-19 Booster Vaccinations

JAKARTA - The Province of North Sulawesi (Sulut) has started to carry out a COVID-19 booster vaccination for the general public and vulnerable groups. The declaration was carried out at Manado Town Square followed by approximately 450 people and then carried out simultaneously by the city districts that matched the criteria.

"Thursday, January 13, a booster vaccination has been announced for the general public, especially vulnerable populations," said the spokesman for the North Sulawesi COVID-19 Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling, Dr. Steaven Dandel MPH in Manado, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, January 15.

He added that efforts to provide protection for the community through vaccination for children aged 6-11 years can now be carried out by all regencies and cities, regardless of the total coverage of the first dose or the coverage of the elderly vaccination.

"Together, let's break the chain of the spread of COVID-19 by implementing health protocols and making vaccinations more active in every district and city," he said.

Today, he said, the province with a population of more than 2.6 million people added six new cases of COVID-19.

The new cases came from the Minahasa Regency and Manado City, each with two people, as well as from Bolaang Mongondow Regency and one person from outside the region.

"There are currently 34,738 confirmed positive cases," he said.

Furthermore, the residents of North Sulawesi who have been declared cured are 33,606 people (increasing one person) or 96.74 percent.

Meanwhile, 1,045 people died with a case fatality rate of 3.01 percent. Meanwhile, active cases of COVID-19 were 87 people or 0.25 percent.
