Bobby Nasution: Booster Vaccination is Prioritized For Elderly Next Week

MEDAN - Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution said booster vaccinations are prioritized for the elderly (elderly) and other vulnerable groups in the area to be given free of charge starting early next week.

"Alhamdulillah, because yesterday the elderly target was achieved, we will carry out a booster vaccination with the priority of the elderly, which will be implemented on Monday (17/1)," said Bobby Nasution, quoted by Antara, Friday, January 14.

He explained that before taking the booster vaccine, an elderly person had received a complete dose of vaccine or two injections with a minimum of six months after the second dose was injected.

In addition, the Medan City Government is pursuing the achievement of vaccination for the elderly, both the first dose and the second dose, with a target of 89,635 residents, although it has already reached the target.

"Thanks to our hard work, the Medan City Government has succeeded in achieving the elderly vaccination target of 60.26 percent," Bobby said.

Bobby Nasution also explained that currently, the Medan City Government has 20 thousand doses of the Pfizer type of COVID-19 vaccine to be injected as a booster vaccine or third dose.

"The terms and conditions for receiving a booster vaccination for the elderly are that they have received the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine for more than six months," he said.

He also explained about the recount of elderly people who had been vaccinated in the area.

"Later we will calculate how many elderly people have been vaccinated for more than six months, because that is what we prioritize for the booster vaccine," said Mayor Bobby.
