Man Goes Berserk, Brandishes A Knife At The Lumajang Police Station, After Being Examined It Turns Out To Be Depressed

SURABAYA - An unknown man suddenly entered the yard of the Lumajang Police, East Java. He pointed a knife at the police.

After being arrested, it turned out that the man was depressed, aka experiencing People With Mental Disorders (ODGJ).

"When he was secured by members, he was asked if he didn't connect. Then an investigation was carried out, it turned out that he was suffering from depression," said Head of Public Relations of the East Java Police, Kombes Gatot Repli Handoko, confirmed, Thursday, January 13.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Lumajang Police, AKBP Eka Yekti Hananto Seno, confirmed the incident. Eka Yekti said the perpetrator suffered from a mental disorder or depression.

"It turns out that the person concerned is mentally disturbed," said Eka Yekti separately.

The perpetrator is R (27), a resident of Karangsungkup Hamlet, Kunir Kidul Village, Kunir District, Lumajang. Eka said that R had a history of depression and was taking medication regularly.

"The person concerned has a history of depression since childhood, has been treated at a hospital in Probolinggo and is still routinely taking medication given by the puskesmas," he said.

Previously, the video of the man's action had gone viral on social media and messaging applications. In the 01.13 minute video, a man can be seen entering the Lumajang Police Court yard with a knife.

The man was seen brandishing a knife. Suddenly, a member of the police who was near the man immediately confronted him. Several other members also approached and tried to catch the man.

This action is known to have occurred around 08.00 WIB. When the action took place, members of the Lumajang Police were following the apple in the field.
