KPK Chairman Firli: Penajam Paser Utara Regent Arrested Along With 10 Others

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri revealed that 11 people, including the Regent of Penajam Paser Utara Abdul Gafur Mas'ud, were caught in a red-handed operation (OTT). This action took place on Wednesday, January 12 yesterday.

"KPK has intervened by one of the Regents in the East Kalimantan region, namely the Regent of Penajam Paser Utara and 10 other parties involved," Firli said in a written statement to reporters, Thursday, January 13.

Currently, all those caught in the silent operation are being investigated. Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement, Ali Fikri, revealed that the investigation was carried out in two places, namely the KPK's Merah Putih Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta and in East Kalimantan.

The arrest of Abdul Gafur was carried out yesterday afternoon in Jakarta. However, no further details were given regarding the arrest.

"The person concerned (Regent of Penajam Paser Utara, ed) was arrested in Jakarta along with several other parties," said Ali.

Currently, the KPK has 1x24 hours to determine the suspects and the construction of the alleged riot that occurred. The public is asked to be patient waiting for further information.
