BIN Bali Distributes 484 Thousand Doses Of Booster Vaccine

DENPASAR - The Bali Regional State Intelligence Agency (BIN) is targeted by the central government to distribute 484,000 doses of booster vaccine during 2022.

"Yes, so BINDA Bali is targeting 484,000 doses of booster vaccine during 2022. It has started from today and will continue tomorrow, and so on," said Head of the Bali Regional State Intelligence Agency (Kabinda) Brigadier General Hadi Purnomo in a press statement quoted by Antara, Wednesday, January 12.

He said that every month, BINDA Bali is targeted to distribute 37,000 doses of booster vaccine for the elderly and the general public throughout Bali.

On the evening of Tuesday, January 11, a direct order was received from the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, to distribute this booster vaccination through BIN in every region.

"On Tuesday (11/1) night, President Jokowi received an order at 23.00 western Indonesia time through BIN to carry out Booster vaccinations on Wednesday, January 12, 2022. With a target of 484,000 doses per year. We are targeting 37,000 doses per month," he explained.

In its implementation, this booster vaccination will give priority to the elderly category. Furthermore, it will target the general public who have received the second stage of vaccination for six months.

For this booster vaccination, four types of vaccines are used, including Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Pfizer, and Moderna.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Bali Provincial Health Office, Dr. I Ketut Suarjaya, said that the implementation of booster vaccination was in accordance with President Jokowi's directives and technical instructions for this implementation simultaneously in 34 provinces.

Suarjaya said the booster vaccination in Bali Province will target the general population who have received the second vaccination, at least six months after the second vaccination, with the main target being the elderly. While others, adjust the achievement of vaccination 1 for the general public at least 70 percent and the elderly vaccination at least 60 percent.

“Because Bali has reached vaccination, generally it is above 102 percent and elderly vaccination is above 83 percent. So all Balinese people who are over 18 years old and have been vaccinated for the second 6 months and over. It is already entitled to get vaccinated," he said.

He said that the booster vaccination is half the dose of the general vaccine. So one common dose can be used for two people.

In addition to implementing a booster vaccination, the provincial government of Bali is also continuing a second vaccination for children.

"This is because it is 4 weeks due, so today the second vaccination for children 6-11 years old is also continuing. We hope that within one month the vaccination of these children will be completed," he said.
