Ridwan Kamil: The Leuwigajah Double Lane Bridge Helps The People's Economy

BANDUNG - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil inaugurated the Leuwigajah double-track bridge connecting Baros Village, Central Cimahi District with Leuwigajah Village, South Cimahi District, Cimahi City.

Ridwan Kamil said that the existence of the Leuwigajah double-track bridge could help the economic growth of the residents of Cimahi City.

"And this year the underpass in the Dustira area will also be completed, God willing. So we have helped many crossings from the province to facilitate the smooth running of the infrastructure economy in Cimahi City," he said, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, January 12.

Residents of Central and South Cimahi can now breathe a sigh of relief if they drive at peak hours, because they no longer encounter traffic jams. The bridge, which was built on the 47.8-meter-long Cipularang KM 127+800 Toll Road, was tested at the end of last year.

The bridge is intended for vehicles from Jalan Baros or Jalan Raya Leuwigajah to Jalan Kerkof, while vehicles use the old bridge instead.

"Today we are inaugurating the Leuwigajah Bridge, which was originally narrow, has now expanded into two lanes to make it easier for the public to access their daily activities," said Ridwan Kamil.

That way, the Governor hopes that some of the infrastructures in Cimahi City can provide good news for local residents in undergoing 2022 as the year of economic recovery.

The governor also proposed that the Leuwigajah bridge be named after a hero from Cimahi City. It can pay homage to their services (heroes).

"Today's inauguration is to provide news to the public, later while we look for his name. Our proposal is a hero from Cimahi City, please sacrifice his glory to be the name of the bridge here," said the Governor.

The Leuwigajah Bridge was built for two years with aid funds from the West Java Provincial Government of IDR 23 billion.

Welcomed by residents

Residents around Leuwigajah, South Cimahi District, Cimahi City welcomed the opening of the Leuwigajah double-track bridge that crossed the KM 27 Purbaleunyi Toll Road.

The joy was evident from the enthusiasm of the residents who were present to witness the inauguration of the bridge by the Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil, Wednesday morning. After the inauguration, many residents asked for selfies together until the governor was overwhelmed.

"Previously, there were traffic jams almost all the time here because there were many vehicles, while the bridge was only one and small," said Abas, one of the residents met at the location.

The bridge is the main link between Cimahi City, Bandung Regency, and West Bandung Regency.

The Head of South Cimahi Sub-district, Dani Bastiani, said that since the trial was carried out a month ago, the severe traffic jams at that point could be resolved. The positive impact is very much felt, including for the flow of goods and services to be smooth.

"Therefore, on behalf of the residents, I would like to thank the Governor for helping Cimahi build this infrastructure," said Dani.

The Leuwigajah Bridge was built to cross the Purbaleunyi Toll Road section by adding the existing two-lane bridge.
