JAKARTA - Chairman of the PDIP faction of the DKI DPRD Gembong Warsono considers the reporting of two of President Jokowi's sons, Gibran Rakabuming Raka and Kaesang Pangarep to the KPK, is politically motivated.
Gibran and Kaesang were reported on suspicion of corruption and money laundering (TPPU). Ubedilah Badrun, a lecturer at the State University of Jakarta (UNJ) who is also an activist in '98, made a report on the two of them.
Gembong considers this report to have a political purpose. This is because the reporter also asked the KPK to examine Jokowi if necessary.
"Yes, this has political content. Don't bring it up there, OK. Gibran is suspected of corruption, why his father is in question? That's not true," said Gembong to reporters, Wednesday, January 12.
Gembong asked the legal case not to be associated with political factors. Because, in handling allegations of corruption, there must be strong evidence and state losses which are the determining factors for perpetrators of corruption.
However, Gembong invited the KPK to thoroughly investigate reports of alleged corruption that dragged Gibran and Kaesang if they were in accordance with applicable legal procedures.
"But if it is indeed a matter of corruption violations, yes, it is acceptable. We will support anyone who commits corruption, there are people who report it, we will appreciate it. But don't look for it," he explained.
Previously reported, Gibran and Kaesang were reported by Ubedilah for being suspected of corruption and money laundering (TPPU).
"This report is related to allegations of corruption and/or money laundering (TPPU) related to allegations of KKN (corruption, collusion, and nepotism, ed) in business relations between the president's son and a business group suspected of being involved in forest fires," said Ubedilah.
The incident, called Ubedilah, began in 2015. At that time, there was a large company named PT SM which was already a suspect in forest fires and had been sued by the Ministry of Environment for a value of Rp7.9 trillion.
The Supreme Court (MA) then only granted the claim of Rp78 billion. Ubedilah said this happened after President Jokowi's son formed a joint company with a high-ranking subsidiary of PT SM in February 2019.
With this condition, the allegations of corruption, collusion, and nepotism very clearly involve Gibran, Kaesang, and the children of PT SM officials because of an injection of capital investment funds from a venture company.
"Twice, funds have been disbursed. The figure is approximately Rp99.3 billion in the near future. After that, the president's son bought shares in a company whose figure is also quite fantastic at Rp92 billion," said Ubedilah.
"And that for us is a big question mark, can a young person who has just set up a company easily get a capital investment with a quite fantastic figure if he is not the president's son," he added.
