Central Java - The Sukoharjo Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Central Java, has arrested a perpetrator in a fraud case pretending to be an obstetric surgeon who works at a hospital. To the victim, the perpetrator promised to be able to 'help' to qualify for civil servant candidates (CPNS).

Sukoharjo Police Chief AKBP Wahyu Nugroho Setiawan said that the perpetrators of the fraud were residents of Puro Hamlet, Karangmalang Village/District, Sragen Regency,

"The perpetrator is currently being held at the Sukoharjo Police Headquarters for further investigation," Wahyu said during the case, Antara, Tuesday, January 11.

The fraud and embezzlement incident began when the perpetrator came to the victim's house, AW, in Tlogorejo Hamlet, Bulakan Village, Sukoharjo, last October 2021. PBA claims to be a surgeon and obstetrician who works at the Jebres Hospital, Solo.

"This perpetrator admitted that the doctor was skeptical that the doctor was still at his previous practice, namely in Tegolyoso Karanganyar. The person concerned came to the victim claiming to be a doctor accompanied by his female friend, who happened to know the victim's mother," Wahyu added.

The perpetrator offered to help the victim to become a civil servant who was placed in the Sukoharjo Hospital. However, the victim had to give some money because the perpetrator argued for some administrative purposes.

The amount of money given varies from Rp. 250 thousand to Rp. 500 thousand. When the total amount reaches Rp. 5 million. Luckily, the victim was aware of this fraudulent act so that he reported it to the authorities.

At the end of December 2021, the perpetrator was arrested after going through a police investigation.

From the results of the examination, the suspect confessed apart from deceiving the victim, AW, as well as two other victims. Investigate, the suspect is a recidivist of the same case in 2017.

The police also managed to collect evidence in the form of 8 pieces of receipt for handing over money, two meters of blue cloth, clothes for doctor's surgery, one pair of shoes, cloth for employee uniforms, and a Honda Supra X 125 unit belonging to the suspect.

The suspect is charged with Article 378 or Article 372 of the Criminal Code concerning Fraud and Embezzlement, with a maximum penalty of four years' imprisonment or a maximum fine of Rp. 900 thousand.
