KEDIRI - The District Attorney (Kejari) of Kediri City, East Java, is currently investigating allegations of corruption in the non-cash food aid (BPNT) in Kediri City which was distributed to residents in need between 2020-2021.

"For the investigation of the corruption case of non-cash food aid corruption in the City of Kediri in 2020-2021, the Kediri City Kejari has been upgraded to the investigation stage, but a suspect has not yet been determined," said Head of the Kediri City Kejari Intelligence Section, Harry Rahmat, quoted by Antara, Monday, 10 January.

He said that this case was upgraded from investigation to investigation in accordance with the investigation warrant on January 5, 2021 related to the investigation of the alleged corruption case of misuse of BPNT which was allegedly carried out by elements of the Kediri City Social Service and assistants.

Harry Rahmat explained that the mode used was a request for a fee or gratuity received by the person from the supplier of goods. The case is acceptance for the year 2020-2021 between August 2020 and September 2021.

According to him, the number of BPNT recipients for the City of Kediri before the COVID-19 pandemic was around 10 thousand people, and this increased to about doubling during the COVID-19 pandemic to around 20 thousand people.

Each KPM (beneficiary family) receives Rp. 200 thousand in the form of goods and is taken at the e-warong. Each KPM spends with items including rice, eggs, vegetables, fruit, meat, both chicken and fish.

He said the fee request was not made to the e-warong owner but to the supplier of goods. In Kediri City, there are three suppliers to supply goods for BPNT, namely rice, chicken eggs and beans.

"Of these three suppliers who distributed the items to 34 e-warongs. The person asked for a supplier," he said.

Until now, there have been around 39 people who have been examined by both the Social Service of Kediri City, especially employees who handle BPNT, suppliers, and e-warong owners.

"At the investigation stage, the recipient admitted, in accordance with the sprindik, both from the Social Service Personnel and the assistant," he said.

For now, his party is still calculating the potential loss to the state with the alleged corruption. However, the Kediri Kejari will ensnare him with Law No. 31/1999 on the Eradication of Corruption.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Social Service Office of the City of Kediri, Triyono Kutut, did not provide an answer when confirmed.
