Student In Tapteng Killed By Lightning Strike, His Friend Who Survived Drowned By Residents In Former Buffalo Pond

MEDAN - A vocational high school student named Adalagi Marojahan Silaban (18) was killed by a lightning strike while on the beach in Sistar Village, Sosorgadong District, Central Tapanuli Regency (Tapteng), North Sumatra.

At the time of the incident, the victim was with a female friend named Tika Br Situmeang (21). Luckily, his friend's life was saved.

Head of Public Relations of the Tapteng Polres, AKP Horas Gurning, when confirmed, said that the two were having recreation on the beach.

The incident was initially known to the public after seeing Tika Situmeang running from the coast towards the Barus Sibolga highway in a staggered and confused state.

"When the officers arrived, Tika was in a daze and was buried by residents in the mud that was used to be a buffalo puddle. But I don't know if it was still active or not, it was clear that it was in the livestock area," said AKP Gurning, confirmed by VOI, Monday, January 10.

AKP Gurning admitted that he did not know why the community had buried Tika in a mud puddle. However, according to him, this is the first aid for the community waiting for the medical arrival.

"Currently he is being treated at the Pandan Hospital. Meanwhile, the male victim, named Adalagi Marojahan Silaban when the officers arrived, had died," explained AKP Gurning.

When found, the victim was dead on the beach near the aru tree in a supine position.

"The chest has burns, the ears are bleeding and the victim's shirt and pants are torn," he continued.

Currently, the victim's body has been handed over to his family at Jalan Peralihan Lingkungan II, Pasir Field Village, Sarudik District for burial.
