In Front Of The Judge, Gaga Muhammad Reveals The Cause Of Laura Anna's Paralysis: Hospital Negligence That Was Too Late

JAKARTA - The defendant Gaga Muhammad was again presented at the East Jakarta District Court with the agenda of defending the demands of the Public Prosecutor (JPU) Tuesday, January 10. The defendant Gaga Muhammad considered that there was negligence on the part of the other party in the paralysis that occurred to Laura Anna.

"Because it was clearly stated based on the facts of the trial that among those who caused Laura Anna's serious injury and paralysis, it was not solely my negligence. But there were other parties who were negligent in this matter," said Gaga Muhammad at the East Jakarta District Court, Monday.

The owner of the real name Gaung Sabda Alam Muhammad explained the negligence of the other party in question, including the hospital who did the first treatment for Laura Anna.

"It should be suspected that there was negligence on the part of the hospital who was late in handling the victim where the hospital's actions did not immediately carry out a more serious examination of the emergency patient even though the victim had already submitted a complaint of pain in the back of the neck," he said.

Gaga said that at that time Laura Anna had only received serious treatment four days after the accident occurred.

"Serious and measurable treatment and action at the hospital was only carried out on the fourth day since the victim was brought to the hospital, namely from December 8, 2019 to December 11, 2019 by performing an MRI at another hospital," he said.

From the MRI examination, he continued, it was known that there was a shift in Laura Anna's spine due to the accident on the Jagorawi Toll Road.

"Furthermore, on the fifth day, the victim was referred to the hospital for surgery. Is it fair that the negligence committed by the other party is all charged to me," he said.

Gaga also said in her plea that before the accident happened she had reminded Laura Anna to wear her seat belt properly.

"Laura Anna in the accident failed to wear a seat belt as it is mandatory to wear a seat belt. The victim only wore the upper strap while the lower strap was not attached," he said.

The defendant Gaga Muhammad was sentenced to four years and six months in prison in the Laura Anna accident case. The Public Prosecutor (JPU) also demanded that the owner of the real name Gaung Sabda Alam Muhammad be fined Rp. 10 million.

"Imposing a prison sentence of four years and six months and a fine of Rp. 10 million if the fine is not paid, the imprisonment is increased by two months," said Handri DW as the prosecutor in his claim.
