Minister Of PUPR: Palace Construction In New IKN Awaiting Presidential Instruction

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Mochamad Basoeki Hadimoeljono said the construction of the palace in the location of the new national capital candidate (IKN) was still waiting for the instructions of Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

"For the design of the State Palace, it already exists. However, for its implementation, we are still waiting for instructions from Mr. President Jokowi," Basoeki said while reviewing the construction site for the new IKN candidate in Sepaku, North Penajam Paser Regency (PPU), East Kalimantan, as reported by Antara, Thursday, January 6th.

Basoeki also reviewed the zero-point area for new IKN candidates to ensure future planning, including the construction of the State Palace.

During the visit to the zero point of this new IKN candidate, there was also the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati. The PPU Regent, Abdul Gafur Mas'ud, also accompanied the two ministers.

The two ministers also visited the candidate area for the construction of the office center and the candidate for the road to the office center.

The delegation of the Minister of PUPR and the Minister of Finance also carried out a survey at the construction site of the Semoi Sepaku Dam, then a ceremony was held at the Balang Island Bridge, the approach bridge to Sepaku from Balikpapan.

In addition to development in the IKN area, said Basoeki, the surrounding development will also be a concern.

He said that the focus of the government's development was not only in the IKN area, but also in the surrounding area so that the buffer areas could also benefit from the presence of the new IKN.

Meanwhile, Sri Mulyani Indrawati said that her party wanted to see firsthand the field conditions in order to determine the stages and plans for the IKN development which would be adjusted to the IKN Law which is currently still under discussion.

"Of course we will determine the stages of IKN development in accordance with the law, which of course is also based on the state's financial capacity," said Sri Mulyani.
