JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health stated that it was investigating allegations that patient data on their servers was leaked and sold on dark forums.

"We are currently conducting an 'assessment' of the problems that occurred and evaluating our system," said Chief Digital Transformation Officer, Ministry of Health, Setiaji as quoted by Antara, Thursday, January 6.

Contacted separately, Ministry of Health spokeswoman Siti Nadia Tarmizi said the incident was still being investigated.

Millions of data originating from patients in various hospitals in Indonesia were allegedly leaked and traded on the dark site Raidforums.

Based on the circulating link, the document is claimed to be medical information for Indonesian patients, a total of 720GB. The uploader gave a sample of 6 million data, including full names, hospitals, patient photos, COVID-19 test results and X-Ray scan results.

The document also contains patient complaints, BPJS referral letters, radiology reports, laboratory test results and approval to undergo isolation due to COVID-19.

Hackers claim this data came from "Indonesian Ministry of Health's centralized server" on 28 December 2021.
