Bekasi Mayor Rahmat Effendi Is Entangled In The OTT Of The KPK, In The Past When He Talked About Corruption, It Will Never Become A Culture

JAKARTA - Before being entangled in a hand arrest operation (OTT) held by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Bekasi Mayor Rahmat Effendi or commonly called Kang Pepen once wrote that corruption will never become a culture.

This was conveyed through his Twitter account @Rahmat_Effendi_ during the commemoration of World Anti-Corruption Day (Hakordia) on December 9, 2021.

"Because corruption will never become our culture," he wrote along with hashtags such as #Achievement Without Corruption and #WorldAnti-CorruptionDay which was quoted on Wednesday, January 5.

The upload is also equipped with a photo of him wearing a black batik shirt and cap.

But, the upload is in fact just mere jargon. The reason is that Pepen was actually arrested by the KPK in a silent operation that was carried out at around 14.00 WIB.

He is also undergoing investigation after being arrested in the crackdown. This was conveyed by the Chairman of the KPK Firli Bahuri.

"The Mayor of Bekasi and several related people are being investigated," he said when confirmed by reporters.

Firli asked the public to be patient because his subordinates are still working to investigate allegations of corruption from the arrests. Moreover, the KPK has 1x24 time to announce who the parties are named as suspects, including the alleged corruption.

"Later in time we will convey it to the public. Please let us work first," said the former Deputy for Enforcement of the KPK.
