The Reason The Police Have Not Disclosed The Contents Of The Bahar Smith Hoax

BANDUNG - Head of Public Relations of the West Java Police, Kombes Ibrahim Tompo, explained that investigators have not yet been able to reveal the contents of the hoax material conveyed by Bahar Smith because of considerations of pro-justitia aspects or for the sake of the law.

"Regarding the investigative material, this is a pro-justitia, so indeed we are not publishing it because it is pro-justice, and can only be used during court proceedings," Ibrahim said in Bandung, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, January 4.

According to him, the chronology of the hoax was allegedly carried out by Bahar Smith during a lecture in Margaasih District, Bandung Regency, West Java, December 11, 2022.

From that lecture, Bahar Smith's hoax was allegedly disseminated on YouTube by a man with the initials TR who has also been named a suspect.

"YouTube was seen by the public and reported by someone with the initials TNA to the Polda Metro Jaya on December 17, 2021," said Ibrahim.

However, Ibrahim said that the investigation of the case was then transferred to the West Java Regional Police because the location of the lecture was in West Java.

Meanwhile, Bahar Smith was named a suspect in the hoax case on Monday, January 3 night. Previously, Bahar was questioned at the West Java Regional Police for nine hours.

In the case of the hoax, Bahar was charged with Article 14 Paragraphs 1 and 2 of Law Number 1 of 1946 concerning the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code, and or Article 15 of Law Number 1 of 1946 concerning the Criminal Law Regulations in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code, and or Article 28 Paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 45a of the ITE Law in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code.
