Residents On The Banks Of The Tanah Abang BKB River Are Upset That Their Houses Have Been Demolished For Bicycle Lanes And Pedestrians

JAKARTA - As many as 60 illegal huts on the banks of the West Flood Canal (BKB) RW 05, Kebon Melati Village, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, were demolished by members of the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) of Tanah Abang District.

Suwandi, one of the owners of the wild huts complained about the arrogance of the Satpol PP officers who immediately demolished his residence. The hut he had been in was immediately demolished by officers without being given a warning letter.

"Yesterday, an officer came at the information center and asked to dismantle my hut. I should have given the information by giving warning letters 1 to 3," complained Kelvin at the location, Monday, January 3.

Meanwhile, Tanah Abang Sub-district Head, Dicky Suherlan, said that his party had demolished 60 illegal huts on Inspeksi Street, RW 05, Kebon Melati Village. The sub-district has also given warning letters 1 to 3.

"We have given a warning letter, so we don't just play around with it," he said.

Dicky said that after the demolition of the land on the side of the West Flood Canal (BKB), bicycle lanes, walks, and parks would be made. The residents whose huts were demolished are certainly not Tanah Abang residents.

"There we will revitalize the land, we have covered the land with zinc," he said.
