JAKARTA - Although the natural disaster of the eruption of Mount Semeru which occurred on December 4, 2021 has passed, the displaced victims still need assistance for their daily needs, especially trauma healing.

There are more than 9,000 people still living in refugee camps, and of course they still bring great sadness and trauma to the people around the mountain, especially Lumajang Regency, East Java.

Therefore, Bumame Pharmacy cooperates with the Nature Lover Student (MPA) Aranyacala Trisakti to move quickly to prepare direct assistance for the victims of the Semeru disaster.

The distribution of aid has been represented by the MPA team in coordination with BPBD (Regional Disaster Management Agency) and DIMPA (Nature Lovers Student Division) University of Muhammadiyah Malang, which also helped in maximizing the rapid distribution of aid for the victims of Mount Semeru.

The aid itself includes basic materials needed by the community, such as suitable warm clothes, children's clothes, underwear and food, kitchen needs which are still very minimal in availability at disaster posts. This aid itself arrived at the location on December 10 last.

Not only that, the Aranyacala Trisakti MPA team also dispatched volunteers to be able to maximize and accelerate the distribution of direct aid to victims up to the red zone of the disaster, which is 7 KM radius from Mount Semeru,

"The aid distributed is also the basic aid that is really needed at this time, one of which is proper warm clothes which were handed over to three posts, namely Pronojiwo District, Oro-oro Ombo Village, & Supiturang which are located close to the danger zone." said Chairman of the MPA Aranyacala Trisakti, Edho in a written statement in Jakarta, Saturday, January 1.

In addition to providing basic needs, Bumame Pharmacy together with MPA Aranyacala Trisakti also held a trauma healing program specifically for children who were victims of the Mount Semeru eruption.

"We also focus on the Trauma Healing program for children affected by disasters, because we understand very well that these children must be helped so that they do not experience prolonged post-disaster trauma in the future," said the Main Director of Bumame Pharmacy, James Wihardja.

Yudi as a member of the BPBD in charge said that the Trauma Healing program was really needed, especially for children who were victims of the disaster.

One of the triggers for trauma is an unpleasant experience caused by unpreparedness for certain events, in this case a catastrophic eruption that comes without any early warning.

"Through Trauma Healing therapy, it is hoped that victims can completely recover from feelings of fear, anxiety to feelings of trauma to the disasters that have occurred and can live their lives as before the disaster occurred. In children, trauma to natural disasters can take away the joy of children," explained Judy.

Others, Bumame Pharmacy also distributed 5,000 pcs of Rapid Tests allocated to Puskesmas and Health Facilities in disaster areas, to monitor and minimize the transmission of COVID-19.

This is because the condition of the post that accommodates disaster victims is quite a lot, resulting in the lack of application of social distancing and health protocols that are not optimal.
