Not Only Motorbikes And Cars, The Car Free Night Scheme Applies To Pedestrians To Bicycles

JAKARTA - The Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya stated that the Car Free Night scheme which was implemented at 11 points did not only apply to motorized vehicles. The CFN scheme applies to both cyclists and pedestrians.

"We are trying to keep all areas quiet and impassable for motorcyclists, cars, bicycles, and pedestrians," said Director of Traffic for the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo to reporters, Friday, December 31.

"That's why it's called Crowd Free Night, not Car Fee Night, because pedestrians and cyclists are not allowed to pass either," he continued.

In the scheme, said Sambodo, his party deployed 1,700 personnel. They will be on guard at the security posts that have been provided.

"Our area is closed then in the middle we arrange the combs one by one," he said.

Then, for motorists who will continue to pass at these 11 points, they will be asked to turn back. Meanwhile, for entertainment venues and restaurants, action will be taken according to the applicable regulations.

"We urge our drivers to turn back. We urge the restaurant later, of course we will work together from the Satpol PP, Dishub, TNI if someone violates the regulations, whether it's a regional regulation, a governor's regulation or a crime," said Sambodo.
