ODGJ In Banyuwangi Found Dead Hanging Himself

BANYUWANGI - A man with the initials AY (27) from Gombolirang Village, Kabat District, Banyuwangi, East Java, was found dead by hanging himself inside his house.

It is not known why the victim was desperate to end his life. However, it is known that the victim has mental retardation, aka people with mental disorders (ODGJ).

Kabat Police Chief AKP Edi Susanto said the victim was first discovered by her parents who were returning from the market at that time.

"The victim was found hanging using a yellow rope slapped about 3 meters around his neck. The slap was tied to the roof of the house and a white bucket used as a footrest," said Kabat Sector Police Chief AKP Edi Susanto, Thursday, December 30.

Edi explained that before the victim's child was found hanging himself, at around 08.30 WIB, the victim and his parents had breakfast together.

"After breakfast, the victim's parents went to the market to do some shopping. After returning home, they both saw that their child was already hanging," said Edi.

Seeing their child hanging stiffly, suddenly the victim's parents were shocked and reported this incident to the local village apparatus. From the village then forwarded to the police.

"When an examination was carried out with the medical team from the Kabat Health Center, there were no signs of violence on the victim's body. The victim was purely hanging from," continued Edi.

The cause of death of the victim is suspected to have suffered from mental disorders, because several times he was treated at the nearest health center.
