1,044 Residents' Houses In Daha Hulu Sungai Selatan, South Kalimantan Affected By Flood

KANDANGAN - A total of 1,044 houses in Daha District, Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency, South Kalimantan were affected by flooding.

The Coordinator of the Daha Region, Harmony of the Fire Brigade (BPK) HSS, Makronie said that the flooding that was still happening until now had an impact on the residents' economy.

Most of the residents who live in flood-affected areas find it difficult to carry out daily activities, either to the fields, to the market or others.

In addition, the flood also damaged the infrastructure in the area, especially roads.

"Flooding also makes residents suffer from skin diseases, due to irritation from being submerged in water for too long, which local people call "balancat," he said, quoted by Antara, Monday, December 27.

Residents' activities are also limited, even at home. Because the floor of the house was submerged in water, residents really needed fire extinguishers or some kind of footbridge made of several pieces of boards arranged to make it easier for them to move around in the house.

To help relieve flood-affected residents, Makronie said that the Banyu Dalam Command Post was established at the Daha Selatan Library office.

The command post is to help residents affected by floods and provide the latest information regarding the Daha flood.

Until now, said Makronie, his party had distributed around 360 food aid packages, this number was indeed limited compared to the number of affected residents.

"Because the amount of aid is very limited, aid must be selected first to be given to people who really can't afford it and really need it," he said.

Officers at the Command Post sort the data on beneficiaries according to the data in the sub-district, especially from poor families, then they are selected and then distributed.

"We accept food donations from individuals and communities, whether they want to be distributed through the post or we are assisting in the distribution to affected communities," he said.

According to him, the assistance that the Command Post has received includes, among others, the Deputy Regent of HSS, Syamsuri Arsyad, in the form of sambako, 100 packages of HSS Harmony as a result of raising funds, Thursday's community assistance was assisted in its distribution.
