Entering The Recovery Transition Period, Residential Relocation Of Residents Affected By The Semeru Eruption Accelerated

JAKARTA - The post-eruption status of Mount Semeru has now entered a transition period from emergency to recovery. Previously, the status of the emergency response period was set from December 4 to 24, 2021.

The Regent of Lumajang issued a decree numbered 188.45/556/427.12/2021 concerning the stipulation of the transition from the Emergency Response Period to the Emergency Transition Period.

Plt. Head of BNPB Disaster Information and Communication Center Abdul Muhari, the emergency transition period set by the Lumajang Regency government is carried out for 90 days.

"One of the priorities in this transition phase is to accelerate the relocation of temporary shelters (huntara)," said Abdul Muhari in his statement, Monday, December 27.

Previously, during the second extension of the emergency response period, the regional government had determined the land for the construction of temporary shelters or temporary shelters.

Two locations have been chosen to relocate residents affected by the eruption, namely in Sumbermujur Village in Candipuro District and Oro-Oro Village in Pronojiwo District.

"The relocation location has received approval from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. The area designated for relocation is a total of 90.98 hectares," said Abdul Muhari. Land clearing is still ongoing in Sumbermujur Village. In addition, heavy equipment was also deployed for road widening and asphalting. This is to facilitate the activities of residents later.

Meanwhile, data from the Command Post (Posko) for the Emergency Handling of the Semeru Eruption as per Saturday, December 25 at 18.00 WIB, recorded a total of 1,027 damaged houses.

Damaged houses were spread out in Sumberwuluh Village, Candipuro District, with 505 units heavily damaged, while in Supiturang Village, Pronojiwo District, 85 houses were heavily damaged and 437 units heavily damaged.

Then, the total number of residents who fled on Saturday (25/12) was 9,417 people spread over 402 points. The concentration of refugees is concentrated in 3 sub-districts, namely in Pasirian 15 points 1,657 people, Candipuro 22 points 3,897 people and Pronojiwo 7 points 1,136 people.

Meanwhile, the refugees outside Lumajang Regency were in Malang Regency with 9 points 341 people, Probolinggo 1 point 11 people, Blitar 1 point 3 people and Jember 3 points 13 people.
