JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) reports that the number of COVID-19 cases of the Omicron RI variant continues to increase, which has now become 46 cases. Previously, 19 cases of Omicron were recorded after there were additional 11 cases from residents who traveled abroad.
Responding to this, Member of Commission IX DPR RI, Rahmad Handoyo, warned all parties to continue to be vigilant so that there would not be a large spike in cases like the Delta variant.
"Reflecting on the data in Indonesia, which has not yet reached 2 weeks, from 3 cases to 46 cases, (more than) 10 times, right. I think this although the size is still small from 3 to 46, remember the percentage transfer process that must be considered," said Rahmad, Sunday, December 26.
"If you look at the global perspective in a week or two, how many times will the transfer process be, yes, the acceleration must be a common concern," he continued.
The PDIP politician urged the central and regional governments to immediately anticipate it. According to him, currently, the government and the people have to immediately put up the 'horses'.
"We have to mount the horses, in what way? Nataru, we really have to, the government, in particular, to be dynamic, if it's from a statistical point of view, the tightening I think should be accelerated," he said.
The Central Java electoral district legislator did not want the middle of last year like a full hospital and scarce oxygen to repeat itself due to the spike in COVID-19 cases. He also reminded that the Omicron variant transmits very quickly when compared to the previous variants.
"What is important is how we prevent the Omicron wave from exploding in Indonesia. Health protocols are a non-negotiable song, mandatory and absolutely necessary," he said.

Ministry of Health urges residents not to travel
The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) reported the addition of cases of the Omicron variant of the corona virus in Indonesia as many as 27 cases. With this addition, there are a total of 46 Omicron cases in the country as of Sunday, December 26.
"Currently, most of them have been quarantined at Wisma Atlet and some at RSPI Sulianti Saroso," said Health Ministry Vaccination Spokesperson, Siti Nadia Tarmizi.
