JAKARTA - The sale of a newborn baby at a delivery clinic in Kubu Raya Regency, West Kalimantan, was revealed. The West Kalimantan Police successfully secured the five perpetrators.

"In that case, the officers secured the five perpetrators and IDR 30 million in cash allegedly used for the transaction," said the Director of General Criminal Investigation of the West Kalimantan Regional Police, Kombes Pol Luthfie Sulistiawan in Pontianak as reported by Antara, Friday, August 21.

Luthfie said that he received reports from the public regarding the crime.

"The Team of Resmob Ditreskrimum Polda West Kalimantan received information from the public that in a maternity clinic with the initial BM located in Kubu Raya, there would be a transaction for selling a child or baby," he said.

Following up on this information, the team immediately went to the location and conducted a series of investigations. The team managed to find several suspected people.

"At the location of BM maternity clinic, the officers found a woman with the initials E and TA. E was going to buy the baby and TA who helped to take the baby," he said.

From the hands of the two perpetrators, the officer received cash of IDR 30 million belongs to the perpetrator E that they would use to pay the baby's mother.

"While the baby's mother, J, is still lying in the delivery room. The baby has been held by a caregiver who is already in the grab car," he said.

From the investigations, the team found a name. They became the intermediary for the sale and purchase of the babies.

"The development at the clinic location leads to other actors with the initial F as the intermediary. The officers chase him. He was successfully secured in the Tanjung Raya II area of ​​East Pontianak," he said.

On that occasion, the Director of the General Criminal Investigation of the West Kalimantan Regional Police said that, currently, the perpetrators had been secured for further investigation and legal proceedings. The perpetrators are subject to article 83 of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 35 of 2014 concerning Amendments to Law no. 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection.
