Inaugurating The Office Of The Indonesian Mosque Council, This Is President Jokowi's Message

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated the office building of the Central Leadership Council of Indonesian Mosques (DMI) in Jakarta, Friday, December 24.

"I hope that with this new office, DMI will be more enthusiastic about making mosques a place of worship for Muslims and as an education center, a da'wah center, a center for deliberation," President Jokowi said at the inauguration as shown on the official Youtube channel of the Presidential Secretariat reported by Antara.

Aside from being a place of worship, the President hopes that DMI can make the mosque a center for education, da'wah, and deliberation that strengthens unity and integrity, national bonds, and improves the welfare of the community.

The mosque, the President said, is a place of da'wah that provides religious knowledge for the people to realize charity and goodness. The mosque is also a place to sow Islamic values as a blessing for the universe.

"So that the mosque contributes to the civilization of our country, and also builds superior Human Resources (HR) with noble character," said the President.

The President also agreed with the opinion of the General Chairman of DMI Jusuf Kalla who said that the door of the mosque should function as an economic booster for the people.

"The mosque really builds a mutamaddin community that is economically, politically and culturally empowered," said the President. the brotherhood of the people is increasing and getting better.

"(The mosque) is participating with the government in reducing unemployment, eradicating poverty, and reducing inequality," the President said.

The location of the DMI Central Executive office building, said the President, is in Matraman, DKI Jakarta. The location is considered appropriate because it is close to the offices of other religious institutions and organizations.

Also present at the inauguration were DMI General Chair Jusuf Kalla, State Secretary Minister Pratikno and Agrarian and Spatial Planning Minister/Head of the National Land Agency (BPN) Sofyan Djalil.
