Basarnas Launches KN Ganesha 105 SAR Ship In Batam

TANJUNGPINANG - Head of the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) Madya TNI Henri Alfiandi launched the KN Ganesha 105 SAR ship in Tanjung Ucang, Batam, Riau Islands.

Henri said the Basarnas fleet was a class I ship with a specification of 68 meters long and 12 meters wide.

The ship, which is made of bimetallic material, is capable of traveling at a speed of 16 knots.

In terms of performance, he said, this ship is capable of carrying 1 unit of Eurocopter AS365 N3 + Dhoupin type helicopter and has 1 set of DPO systems that can lock the ship's coordinate position so that it remains stable at predetermined coordinates.

"One of the basics of Basarnas equipping the main SAR tools at sea is solely to provide a sense of security and comfort for the Indonesian and international people," Henri said, as quoted by Antara, Thursday, December 23.

Henri said the large ship would be stationed in eastern Indonesia. Meanwhile, its designation is to carry logistics for small-sized SAR ships, to support SAR operations in the wide seas.

"The construction of this ship costs around Rp120 billion," said Henri.
