SOLO - The Surakarta City Police checked 27 churches related to the preparation of health protocols ahead of the 2021 Christmas service in Solo, Central Java.
"We have visited as many as 27 churches in the city of Solo that will hold the Christmas Mass," said Surakarta Police Chief Kombes Ade Safri Simanjuntak in Solo as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, December 22.
The visits to these churches, he said, were mainly related to the implementation of the prokes.
In accordance with the Circular Letter (SE) of the Minister of Religion Number 33/2021, he said, in general, churches in the area implemented prokes well.
"Indeed there are several churches in Surakarta, the QR code PenduliLindung is still incomplete. The Mayor of Surakarta will help immediately complete it," he said.
The Head of Police hopes that during Christmas Mass on December 24, 25 and 31, all churches will be equipped with a QR code PeduliLindung to monitor the faithful regarding the completeness of vaccine doses, unconfirmed status or close contact so that worship can run in a safe, orderly, smooth and healthy manner.
The police also ensure security by its personnel in all churches in Surakarta.
"Before the Christmas Mass, we will carry out sterilization of all churches that will hold the Christmas Mass, both by the Jihandak Team, Jibom, Gegana, the Central Java Police Mobile Brigade Unit and the K9 Sat Samapta Unit of the Surakarta Police," he said.
His party carried out sterilization to provide security guarantees for people who would carry out Christmas and New Year's Masses. All personnel who were deployed in securing the Christmas Mass in these churches were equipped with long-barreled firearms.
The National Police, assisted by the TNI, will be present as representatives of the state to provide security and comfort guarantees during the Christmas celebrations in Surakarta.
Kombes Ade Safri also emphasized the ban on processions or convoys and fireworks during Christmas and New Year.
"So there are no processions, parades and fireworks. All celebrations that have the potential to cause crowds are prohibited during Christmas and New Year's," he said.
Kombes Ade Safri hopes that all these rules are obeyed by all levels of society, both celebrating Christmas and the 2022 New Year.
"We don't want a spike in COVID-19 cases in Surakarta," he said.
