KPK Affirms No One Can Arrange The Handling Of Corruption Cases, Including Leaders

JAKARTA - Acting Spokesman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for Enforcement, Ali Fikri, emphasized that no one can regulate the handling of corruption cases that are being carried out by his institution. He said there was a layered and very strict mechanism in the process.

This was conveyed by him in response to the statement of his former investigator, Stepanus Robin Pattuju. After the trial, the defendant in the alleged bribery handling of the case stated that he would dismantle the game involving the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Lili Pintauli Siregar.

"The handling of cases at the KPK is very layered and strict because it involves many personnel from various cross-task teams and units of investigation, investigation, and prosecution," Ali told reporters, Tuesday, December 21.

Referring to the layered mechanism, Ali stated that it is difficult for individuals to regulate the investigation of alleged corruption that is being carried out by the KPK.

"This system makes it impossible for each person to manage a case. This means that in one team it is impossible to condition a case so that it does not continue, especially at the directorate, deputy, even leadership levels," he said.

Moreover, he said, control over the handling of certain cases is also carried out in stages. "Starting from the task force, the directorate, then the deputy for enforcement (controlling, ed) up to the five leaders (deciding, ed) collectively collegially," said Ali.

As previously reported, Stepanus will reveal the role of Lili Pintauli, who he said also played in a number of cases at the KPK. He even said his former leader should go to jail.

"I will disassemble, I will dismantle several cases involving her (Lili Pintauli, ed). I will unload, she must go to prison," said Robin at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Monday, December 20.

For information, Stepanus, who is a case broker at the KPK, often mentions the involvement of Lili Pintauli and a lawyer named Arief Aceh. As for the participation of the former Deputy Chairperson of the LPSK in the bribery case in handling this case, the KPK Supervisory Board has imposed heavy sanctions some time ago.
