"The convict on behalf of Marolop Sijabat (60) was arrested by the West Kalimantan Attorney General's Team this afternoon at 14.30 WIB, on Jalan Sungai Raya Dalam, Punggur Kecil Village, Sei Kakap District, Kubu Raya Regency", said Head of West Kalimantan Prosecutor's Office Masyhudi in Pontianak on Monday, December 20.

He explained that the DPO convict Marolop Sijabat was convicted in a corruption case in 2007. The convict at that time as Director of PT Tani Tirta acted as a contractor for the improvement of Jalan Simpang Empat Sungai Raya Dalam, Pasar Punggur Village, Sungai Raya District, Pontianak Regency which has now been divided into Kubu Raya Regency.

In carrying out his work, the convict did not carry out work according to the items in the RAB (budget plan) as in the work contract, but in the work progress report, it was made 100 percent according to the RAB, he said.

Based on the Decision of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia Number: 1443 K/Pid.Sus/2010 dated November 2, 2010, the convict Marolop Sijabat was found guilty of committing a criminal act of corruption as stipulated in Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001.

The convict was sentenced to prison for one year and a fine of IDR 50 million, a subsidiary of three months in prison, as well as compensation for state losses of IDR 312 million, subsidiary of one year in prison.

He added that today the convicts were immediately handed over to the Mempawah District Prosecutor's Office for execution at the Pontianak City Penitentiary, West Kalimantan.

On that occasion, Kajati West Kalimantan appealed and invited the role of the public and members of the press to help inform if they know of the whereabouts of fugitives from other cases (who have not been caught) so that they can be processed by law.

"This arrest will have a psychological effect on other fugitives, while those who have not been caught are only a matter of time and remind the fugitives that there is no safe place for fugitive criminals (DPO)", he said. This was reported by Antara.
