Jakpro Corrects Metro Jaya Police Chief's Statement Calling Formula E Held In Ancol

JAKARTA - Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Fadil Imran stated that Formula E will be held in the Ancol area, North Jakarta, before any announcement by the DKI Provincial Government. This statement was immediately corrected by PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) BUMD.

Fadil's statement was revealed after discussing the official racing plan for illegal racers with the Chairman of the Indonesian Motorcycle Association (IMI) Bambang Soesatyo and the Managing Director of PT Taman Impian Jaya Ancol Teuku Sahir Syahali.

According to Fadil, the official racing location for illegal racers will be held in Ancol, as will Formula E, which is planned to be held in June 2022.

"Hopefully Ancol will build this soon (the official race track), because Formula E is right there," said Inspector General Fadil at Polda Metro Jaya, Monday, December 20.

The statement from the Kapolda was corrected by the President Director of PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) Widi Amanasto. When contacted separately, Widi revealed that his party had not determined the location of the Formula E circuit. Ancol was only one of five options.

"Yes, it's one of the things we want to intensify (Formula E racing) in Ancol, there are also some at JIExpo, the possibility is still open," said Widi.

Currently the DKI Provincial Government and Jakpro as the organizer are still holding discussions with the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI) as the implementing committee, and Formula E Operation as the holder of the Formula E license for circuit determination.

"It will be narrowed later, tonight it is still being closed. If not tonight, tomorrow we will meet," said Widi.
