Heavy Vehicle Volume, Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road Had "Contraflow"

JAKARTA - The police and Jasa Marga had implemented contraflow following the heavy traffic flow on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road at the weekend.

"Contraflow is applied on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road towards Jakarta because the conditions are quite congested," said Head of Traffic unit of Karawang Police, Commissioner Adjutant of Police, La Ode Habibi Ade Jama, as quoted on Sunday, December 19.

He said that this weekend the traffic flow on the toll roads was quite heavy. The contraflow system itself is implemented to break down the density of traffic flows on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road towards Jakarta.

According to him, in its implementation, officers carried out a contraflow opening and closing system from Kilometer 53 to Kilometer 47.

"To reduce the density, contraflow is applied on Sunday afternoon, and of course it will be done if there is a traffic density," he said.

Corry Annelia Poundti, Marketing and Communication Department Head of Jasamarga Transjawa Tollroad Regional Division, said that the contraflow system was implemented at the discretion of the police.

Jasa Marga appealed to all road users to anticipate the trip, ensure the vehicle is in top condition, have sufficient electronic money balance, refuel before starting the trip and bring supplies to avoid crowds or overcrowding in rest areas.

"Always be careful when driving, obey the signs and follow the directions of the officers in the field," she concluded.
