A Palm Tree In Pondok Indah Collapses, A White Honda HRV Is Crushed, A Motorcyclist Dies

JAKARTA - A motorcyclist died as a result of being hit by a fallen tree on Jalan Metro Pondok Indah, Pondok Pinang, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, Saturday afternoon.

The DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) through its official Twitter account said the incident occurred at 15.00 WIB.

BPBD said the fire brigade and local forestry sub-department immediately evacuated the fallen tree for more than an hour.

Based on the data collected, in addition to causing the death of a motorcyclist, the tree also hit a white Honda HRV and was badly damaged.

Head of the South Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-dept. Herbert P Lumban Gaol said his party received a report at around 3 p.m. to evacuate fallen trees due to strong winds at the location.

The victim died on the spot as a result of being hit by a large palm tree that was blown by strong winds.

"The victim was hit by a tree. One person died on behalf of Panduwinata, aged 36," he said.

The victim is a resident of Jatirahayu, Pondok Melati, Bekasi City. "For the victims who died after being handled by the police, they were taken by ambulance to Pondok Indah Hospital," he said.
