Bali Police Encourages Student Udayana University Who Is Suspected Of Being A Victim Of Harassment To Report

DENPASAR - The Bali Police has encouraged Udayana University (Unud) students who are suspected of being victims of sexual harassment to report. The police are ready to investigate the case.

"The police usually move when there is a report. There is no report yet. If there is a victim, we will deal with it. If there is no report, who wants to be (investigated)", said the Director of Criminal Investigation at the Bali Police, Kombes Ary Satryan, at the Bali Police Headquarters, Friday, December 17.

He made sure the police would follow up on every report that came in. Therefore the victim was asked to report.

"If there is a report, we will check it first, whether the report is true or not, we will conduct an investigation first. Is it true that there is an act when if there is, how, who is the culprit, we have to check first", he said.

Previously, the Instagram account of the Student Executive Board (BEM) of Udayana University (Unud) Bali uploaded an allegation of sexual harassment by a student by a faculty friend.

The perpetrator was referred to with the initials I from the Faculty of Animal Husbandry (previously written as agriculture, ed) to his friend. The harassment took place on the motorbike.

"We got the chronology from the victim. We happened to be looking for the culprit and the perpetrator was a member of the Faculty BEM. Yesterday, we met and presented the perpetrator, and the perpetrator admitted the incident", said Chairman of the Student Executive Board of Udayana University, Muhammad Novriansyah to reporters, Thursday, December 16.

As a result of sexual harassment, the victim is traumatized. The victim is currently receiving psychological assistance.

"The victim is still traumatized, there are female members of the BEM accompanying her and currently looking for a psychiatrist", he added.
