Viral Allegations Of Harassment Of UNJ Lecturers, Police Ask Victims To Report

JAKARTA - The police asked the victim of alleged sexual harassment by the lecturer of the Makeup Education Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, State University of Jakarta (UNJ) to make an official report. This case has already been investigated.

The alleged harassment case was revealed by uploading the Twitter account @ayesanjos. The upload features two photos containing screenshots of conversations between the abuse victim and the lecturer as well as the alleged perpetrator.

"The victim is trying (to make) a report as well," said the Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes E. Zulpan to reporters, Wednesday, December 15.

In addition, Zulpan stressed that his party will continue to encourage victims in cases of harassment to make a formal report. This is because the police report (LP) is the basis for conducting an investigation.

However, so far it is emphasized that there has been no official report regarding the case.

"There is no (report) yet, we always invite the public, especially victims of sexual harassment, to report, until now there has been no report," said Zulpan.

Despite the lack of reporting, Zulpan stated that the alleged harassment case which was viral on social media had been handled. Currently, the East Jakarta Metro Police team is looking for evidence and clues.

"Continue to carry out investigations, but if the victim is not found out how. Indeed, for this crime, there must be someone known for a complaint offense, so someone has to complain," said Zulpan.
