JAKARTA - Floods followed by landslides hit Majalengka Regency, East Java. This flood occurred after heavy rains on Wednesday, December 8 night. The unstable soil structure also triggers landslides at several points.

The Head of the National Agency for Disaster Management (BNPB) Data and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari, said the phenomenon of floods and landslides that hit the Majalengka Regency area caused three access roads to be closed.

"The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Majalengka Regency reported that the road access was blocked by landslides. Residents' activities had stalled due to fallen trees that crossed the road", Abdul Muhari said in his statement, Thursday, December 9.

This incident hit a number of villages, including Cimeong Village, Girimulya Village located in Majalengka District, Cihaur Village, Wanahayu Village in Maja District, Haurgeulis Village, Sukamenak Village, Cinambo Village in Bantarujeg District.

Meanwhile, the water level during the flood reached 1 meter. Five houses were affected, three of which were moderately damaged. Apart from houses, 4 units of business premises, 1 school unit, and 1 hectare of agricultural land were also affected by the floods and landslides.

"It is reported that the latest conditions are that the flood has receded. BPBD Majalengka Regency together with a joint team will carry out further handling in evacuating residents", explained Abdul Muhari.

Based on Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency, early warning information until Friday, December 11 tomorrow, there is the potential for rain that can be accompanied by lightning and strong winds between noon and night which needs to be watched out for.

This happened in Bogor Regency and City, Depok City, Bekasi Regency and City, Subang Regency, Sukabumi Regency and City, Cianjur Regency, Bandung Regency and City, Cimahi City, West Bandung Regency, Sumedang Regency, Majalengka Regency, Kuningan Regency, Regency of and Cirebon City, Indramayu Regency, Garut Regency and Tasikmalaya City.
