JAKARTA - Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Nusron Wahid revealed that land disputes often involve religious institutions.

In fact, land conflicts can hinder the construction of places of worship.

Nusron said, there were a number of land disputes involving religious institutions, ranging from overlapping with other parties to the unfinished release of land rights (SPHT).

"Yes, it's usually a problem of overlapping, a letter of release of rights that has not been completed. Yes, just like the others," said Nusron when met by reporters at the Central Village Pasundan Christian Church (GKP), Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, Tuesday, December 24.

On several occasions, Nusron claimed to have given land certificates to other religious institutions, such as Muhammadiyah, NU, the Catholic Church and the Christian Church to the Confucian.

"Assets and lands owned by this religious institution so that they have sustainability, so that they have good security value. So, later if there is anything clean and clear, there should not be a problem," said Nusron.

"One of the obstacles to the construction of places of worship is usually the land is not clean and clear. One of these is to ensure that the land is clean and clear," he continued.

He explained that there are several places of religion that have certificates of Building Use Rights (HGB).

Currently, his party is encouraging an increase in certificate status to Certificate of Ownership (SHM).

He said that his party would immediately coordinate with the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) to realize this.

This is because the Ministry of Religion has the authority to provide recommendations.

"Well, we will socialize so that the HGB status is raised to SHM. Because religious institutions while receiving recommendations from the Ministry of Religion may apply as proof of SHM. There are two letters, from the Ministry of Religion and there is a letter of approval from the Minister of ATR/BPN. I have given a lot of approval letters," he concluded.
