New Problem Behind The Bintaro Toll Exit Shooting Case: Extortion Elements

JAKARTA - Metro Jaya Police has named Ipda OS as a suspect in the shooting case at the Bintaro Toll Exit, South Jakarta. The determination of this suspect is based on evidence and instructions as well as the results of the case title.

However, behind the shooting case, a new problem arose. Because there are allegations of extortion in the series of cases.

This allegation of blackmail was the motive for the tailings carried out by Poltak Pasaribu and M. Aruan against the man with the initials O.

The Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner E. Zulpan also stated that his party was investigating the allegation. The examination of witnesses and the search for clues are continuing.

"It (the alleged extortion) is still being investigated again," Zulpan told reporters, Tuesday, December 7.

In addition, the alleged extortion emerged after O made a police report at the Polda Metro Jaya. However, the reporting carried out is related to threats.

"If the extortion was revealed, brother O was harmed by the prosecution. He has already made a threatening report," said Zulpan.

Although based on the results of the examination of M. Aruan and two other people, they did not state that the prosecution was related to extortion. They call the background of the aftermath purely investigative.

"They are the reason for the investigation. They don't say there has been no such confession of extortion," said Zulpan.

This investigation was carried out because they or the victims of the shooting were journalists.

The reason the victim followed was because O was driving using a car with a number plate coded for a government official. Moreover, O is said to have stopped by a hotel in the Sentul area, West Java, which raised suspicions.

"They saw the vehicle used by O with an RFJ plate. So this is a local government official because it is a plate for the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government," said Zulpan.

Based on the testimony of the survivors, O had dropped a woman. Hence, their suspicions grew stronger.

"They saw brother O drop a woman from the hotel so they followed," Zulpan said.

Next, O who felt being followed was scared and contacted Ipda OS. Until finally, while at the Bintaro Toll Exit, a shooting took place.

The shots hit Poltak Pasaribu and M. Aruan. So, they were injured and taken to the hospital.

However, Poltak Pasaribu could not be helped and died. Meanwhile, M. Aruan's condition is getting better.

Meanwhile, in the shooting case, Ipda OS was charged with Article 351 and/or 359 of the Criminal Code. The penalty is 7 years in prison.
