A Suspicious Bag At The Depok Bethel Church That Is Nothing

JAKARTA - A gray backpack scared the people around the Indonesian Bethel Church, on Jalan Kartini, Depok, West Jakarta.

The backpack is lying in front of the gate of the Siloam Christian Education Foundation which is adjacent to the Bethel church, to be precise at Siloam Elementary School.

A number of residents contacted the police. The police came and checked the item. The National Police's explosives disposal team was deployed to deal with this.

The traffic flow around Jalan Kartini is closed for about one hour. Police lines were also posted around where the bags were found. People are prohibited from crossing a radius of 100 meters from the location.

Vehicles from the direction of Margonda to Depok, Citayam, or Grand Depok City stations are told to divert the journey. Likewise, vehicles from the direction of Citayam or Grand Depok City that lead to Margonda.

"We received reports from church officials about the presence of a suspicious bag in front of the entrance pager," said Depok Police Chief AKBP Azis Adriansyah, Tuesday, December 24.

However, after being examined by the Gegana Jihandak Team, it turned out that the contents of the bag were only books and clippings. There are no explosives in the bag.

After the police checked the bags and around the location and declared it safe, the community was allowed to resume activities, including vehicle lanes that were closed and then opened again.
