Missing Last Sunday, East Sumba Residents Found Dead By SAR Team

The SAR team evacuates victims who were swept away by the waves while looking for fish in East Sumba (ANTARA)

KUPANG - The SAR team of the Waingapu Search and Rescue Post Office finally found Amson Ndapa Kambombu (24) a resident of East Sumba Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province.

Amson was reportedly swept away by the waves while fishing on Sunday, December 5 around Katandu Waters, Praimadita Village, Kerera District, East Sumba Regency.

"The victim who went missing while fishing on Sunday morning was found by the SAR team from the Waingapu Basarnas Post dead," said Head of the Kupang Search and Rescue Office, Emi Friezer in Kupang, Antara, Monday, December 6.

He explained that the case of Amson Ndapa Kambombu's disappearance was discovered after a report was made. At that time the victim along with four people went to the beach to dive looking for fish.

At 03.00 o'clock in the morning, all of them went down to the sea, but after a while they heard the sound of splashing water about 50 meters away.

"The victim's friends approached the sound of splashing water and saw the light of the victim's flashlight. The victim's friends did not dare to approach because the location was a bit deep," said Emi Frizer.

After coordinating with relevant agencies in East Sumba, the SAR team went to the scene to look for victims.

He said the SAR team consisting of five people immediately moved to the scene with a distance of 129 km from Waingapu City to carry out SAR operations looking for victims.

He said the search operations carried out by the SAR team were carried out by two teams, namely SAR operations by sea and SAR operations by land.

At 07.55 the land line SAR team found the victim about 200 meters from the scene in a dead condition.

"After the victim was found, it was immediately handed over to the victim's family," said Emi Friezer.

Emi Frizer expressed his gratitude to all the SAR potential in the area who participated in carrying out the humanitarian tasks that had been carried out and hoped that the same incident would not happen again.

"We hope that the potential synergy of SAR in search and rescue operations can be well maintained so that it will be more optimal," he said.
