JAKARTA - A number of residential areas in the Kosambi and Teluknaga sub-districts, Tangerang Regency, Banten were again flooded due to tidal flooding caused by high tides on the Tangerang coast.

The Head of the Emergency and Logistics Division (BPBD) of Tangerang Regency, Abdul Munir in Tangerang, said that the tidal flood that had occurred since Thursday, December 2, had dampened two coastal areas of Tangerang, such as in Dadap Village, Kosambi District and Lemo Village, Teluknaga District with a total of 3,039 families (KK).

"The tidal flood currently hit village of Cheng In, Dadap sub-district, Kosambi with a total of 2,739 families. Then in Muara village, Lemo village, Teluknaga sub-district as many as 300 families," he said.

He said the tidal flood that hit the north coast of Tangerang with a height of 40 centimeters had disrupted community activities.

"The average tidal water level is about 40 centimeters," he said.

According to him, even though his residential area was buried by the tidal flood, local residents still survive with these conditions.

He appealed, as long as the current weather conditions are quite extreme, all residents in disaster-prone areas are asked to always be vigilant and play an active role in tackling natural disasters such as floods.

"We, together with elements of Teluknaga and Kosambi sub-districts, will continue to monitor the development of the flood," he said.
