Fire Comes Out Of The Engine Hood, PO Sudiro Tungga Jaya Bus Catches Fire On The Semarang-Solo Toll Road

JAKARTA - The PO Sudiro Tungga Jaya bus with the police number AD 1521 BU caught fire on the Semarang-Solo toll road km 433 +800 in the Semarang Regency, Central Java, Saturday morning.

Semarang Police Traffic Unit Head Commissioner Adjutant of Police, Rendy Johan said there were no casualties in the incident at around 04.30 western Indonesia time.

Two units of fire engines belonging to PT Transmarga Central Java were deployed to extinguish the fire.

Joint officers from the police and Transmarga Central Java are also trying to quickly evacuate the bus wreck so as not to disrupt traffic flow.

According to the bus driver's statement, the fire is thought to have first appeared in the engine room.

The bus bound for Tangerang-Yogyakarta carries around 30 passengers.

"The bus driver immediately stopped the vehicle after seeing indications of a fire in the engine room," he said.

The evacuation process and extinguishing the burning bus had caused traffic jams from Semarang to Solo.

He added that the INAFIS Semarang Police had carried out the incident to find out the cause of the fire.
