Police Ban Christmas And New Year Celebrations That Trigger Crowds

BADUNG - The National Police forbade the holding of Christmas and New Year celebrations that could trigger crowds during the COVID-19 pandemic in accordance with the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs No. 62 Year 2021.

"For Christmas and New Year, according to the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs No. 62 of 2021, all celebrations with a very large number of participants are prohibited, to avoid new clusters, especially the emergence of the Omicron variant at this time," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo at the conference. He said if in the implementation of the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 62 of 2021 there were findings of violations, the officers would carry out legal guidance.

"If there are (violators), in every violation, legal guidance will be carried out to maintain safety for all Indonesian people," he said.

The National Police emphasized that the implementation of Christmas and New Year refers to the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 62 regarding the Prevention and Management of COVID-19 at Christmas 2021-New Year 2022, that everything is in accordance with Level 3 of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) regulations.

According to him, the National Police are currently preparing for it and holding a Service Post and optimizing the PPKM starting from the village level, and the locations of the homecomers' destinations.

"The PPKM will be maximized and for standby service posts at several toll gate points, ports, airports in order to carry out surveillance for people traveling, especially by attaching a vaccine certificate," said Dedi.

Previously, the central COVID-19 Handling Task Force had issued the latest regulations regarding travel during Christmas 2021 and New Year 2022, as outlined in the Circular Letter (SE) of the COVID-19 Handling Task Force No. 24 of 2021 concerning Regulation of Community Activities and Mobility during the 2021 Christmas Period and 2022 New Years during the COVID-19 Pandemic Period.
