West Papua Governor Surprised That 70 Percent Of Provincial Government Employees Haven't Been Vaccinated: State Civil Apparatus Should Be A Role Model

MANOKWARI - West Papua Governor Dominggus Mandacan was shocked and questioned the condition of 70 percent of provincial government employees who had not been injected with the COVID-19 vaccine until the end of November 2021.

"State officials should be role models for the community to obey health protocols and vaccinations," said the Governor during an apple ceremony with the State Civil Apparatus (ASN), National Armed Forces (TNI), and National Police (Polri) at the Borasi Manokwari field, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, December 1.

The governor said there is no reason for employees in this province not to be vaccinated because efforts to establish group immunity in the work environment and the people of West Papua must be achieved.

"ASN within the West Papua provincial government must be vaccinated. Group immunity must be formed in the work environment," he said.

Furthermore, the Governor directed government employees to visit the mass vaccination service which will be held on Thursday, December 2 at the Borasi Manokwari field.

"On Thursday, all West Papuan government employees who have not been vaccinated must come. This is an order," he said.

Furthermore, the Head of the West Papua Provincial Health Office, Otto Parorongan, reported that the West Papua COVID-19 vaccination coverage as of 29 November 2021 had reached 43 percent of the first dose and 23.3 percent of the second dose.
