During The Christmas And New Year Holidays, The Police Will Not Turn The Vehicle Around, But Get Vaccinated Or Quarantined Immediately

JAKARTA - The National Police has prepared 1,607 monitoring posts and 675 integrated service posts to monitor community mobility during the 2021 Christmas and 2022 New Year holiday periods.

In addition, it is ensured that the security forces will not act repressively to people who violate travel regulations.

"It needs to be said that these service posts, which used to be isolation posts for security activity posts, are now not being implemented repressively", said Head of the Operational Division of Traffic Corps, Kombes Dodi Darjanto, in a Working Meeting with House of Representatives Commission V, reported by era.id Wednesday, 1 December.

Dodi also ensured that his unit would not turn around the vehicles of travelers who did not carry complete travel documents. This is a direct order from President Joko Widodo.

According to Dodi, President Jokowi advised the police not to harm the public when monitoring community mobility activities during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

"So there are no vehicles that are turned around and according to the direction of the president, there should be no people who are harmed and become difficult. So the pattern of operation is preventive", said Dodi.

Dodi explained that the service post will be used as a random checkpoint or random sampling to see the completeness of travel documents. Meanwhile, travelers are required to bring a permit from the RT/RW (Citizens Association), a negative Covid-19 antigen test result, and proof of a complete dose of vaccination.

If during the inspection it is found that there are people who have not been vaccinated, Dodi said that his party has prepared a vaccination post. So, the person can be vaccinated on the spot.

"With this service post, if there is a random sampling of people who have not been vaccinated, then the service post has provided a vaccination post. People who have not had the first or second dose of vaccine are vaccinated at the post", said Dodi.

Then, if there are travelers who are positive for Covid-19, they will be immediately in quarantine that has been provided. The police are also cooperating with health workers stationed along the toll roads.

"If during the random sampling it is found positive, then the post will provide a limited quarantine area provided by medical officers and ambulances. These are along the toll road, we will prepare them later", said Dodi.

Previously, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said The government will impose even wages on several toll roads. Among them are the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road, the Bogor-Ciawi-Cigombong Toll Road, the Cikampek-Palimanan-Kranci Toll Road, the Cikampek-Padelarang-Cileunyi Toll Road. This rule applies from December 20, 2021, to January 2, 2022.

In addition to odd-even, the Ministry of Transportation will also implement opening and closing rest areas, one way to contraflow. And random checks will be made at the rest area or designated place.

Tourist areas during the Christmas and New Year holiday periods will also apply an odd-even system. As well as the implementation of one path, contraflow, and random check.

"Usually if we apply odd-even, the movement drops by 30 percent", said Budi.
