President Jokowi's Moment In Dialogue With Farmers In Trenggalek, East Java

TRENGGALEK - Indonesian President Joko Widodo had a dialogue with farmers when inaugurating the Tugu Dam and Gongseng Dam in Trenggalek, East Java, Tuesday, November 30.

"I would like to thank Mr. President for building a dam in our village. This building has been eagerly awaited by the community because the first one can control flooding in Trenggalek, the second I as a rice farmer, I hope that in the future I can harvest three times," he said. Another farmer, Ainur Rofiq, hopes that the existence of the two dams can improve the welfare of the people in Trenggalek Regency through the tourism sector.

"Improving the economy of the community, especially the opening of new tourism. Because with the dam, people have new routes for tourism. I thank the President for giving gifts to the community," he said.

President Joko Widodo inaugurated the Tugu Dam located in Trenggalek Regency and the Gongseng Dam located in Bojonegoro Regency simultaneously.

The inauguration ceremony was held at the Tugu Dam, Trenggalek Regency, East Java, Tuesday, November 30. In his remarks, the President expressed his gratitude that two dams in East Java, namely the Gongseng Dam in Bojonegoro and also the Tugu Dam in Trenggalek Regency, were inaugurated.

"Both of them are ready to be used in the context of our food security," the President said in his remarks quoted by Antara.

The Tugu Dam, which has a capacity of up to 12 million cubic meters, was built at a cost of IDR 1.69 trillion and is expected to provide irrigation benefits of 1,250 hectares.

Meanwhile, Gongseng Dam, which was built in 2013-2021, has a capacity of 22 million cubic meters with an inundation area of 390.6 hectares and is expected to irrigate an area of 6,200 hectares.
