DKI Jakarta PPKM Status Increases To Level 2

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has raised the status of the Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) to level 2 from level 1 related to handling COVID-19.

This PPKM level 2 status applies to all regencies/cities in DKI Jakarta from November 30 to December 13, 2021.

This is stated in the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 63 of 2021.

"Especially to the Governor of DKI Jakarta for the Regency/City area with level 2 (two) criteria, namely the Thousand Islands Administrative District, West Jakarta Administrative City, East Jakarta Administrative City, South Jakarta Administrative City, North Jakarta Administrative City, and Central Jakarta Administrative City," the sound of the first dictum letter a of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 63 of 2021.

Previously, the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said, based on the results of the latest assessment, 23 regencies/cities were included in Level 2 PPKM, of which 10 were in the Greater Jakarta area.

"The results of the November 27, 2021 assessment showed that 23 regencies/cities were included in Level 2 and as many as 8 City Regencies were included in Level 1," said Luhut.

"Based on an assessment from the World Health Organization (WHO), 10 regencies/cities that returned to level 2 of them were in the Greater Jakarta area, which occurred due to the decline in tracing (screening) numbers of agglomeration members in the Greater Jakarta area," he added.

He added that the implementation of restrictions on community activities (PPKM) on the island of Java-Bali was again extended for two weeks until December 6.

"The implementation of PPKM which is still being carried out in Java-Bali shows a fairly stable trend," Luhut said in a weekly evaluation of the development of information on handling the COVID-19 pandemic, as quoted from his written statement, Monday, November 29.

This stable trend, continued Luhut, is evidenced by the number of COVID-19 cases that continue to be maintained at the lowest level. Luhut even said that the current decline in the number of cases could be reduced by up to 99 percent since the peak of cases occurred in July.

Even so, he asked all parties to be aware of the addition of cases considering the increase in active cases nationwide.

Not only that, but Luhut also reminded all parties to be careful with the existence of community mobility which, based on the results of the Google Mobility Java-Bali survey and the Community Expenditure Index, occurred significantly.

According to him, caution is important to prevent an increase in COVID-19 cases because it is now approaching Christmas and New Year's 2022. Luhut advised that there should not be another significant transmission in the community which leads to strict restrictions.

"We must be careful of indications of an increase in cases and mobility, especially during the Nataru period so that strict social restrictions do not repeat," he concluded.
