Mayor Of Medan Wants HMI To Become A Government Strategic Partner

MEDAN - Mayor of Medan, North Sumatra, Bobby Nasution wants the North Sumatran Islamic Student Association (HMI) to become a strategic partner of the regional government.

"HMI has become the government's strategic partner in several programs by providing views. Are the programs we have run and we will do good or not," said Bobby Nasution in Medan, quoted by Antara, Thursday, November 25

This was conveyed by Bobby Nasution after opening the XXIV Musda of the North Sumatra HMI Coordination Agency (Badko) which was attended by the North Sumatran Regional Police Irwasda Kombes Pol Armia Fahmi, the North Sumatran KAHMI MW Head Rusdi Lubis, and the North Sumatran Head of Badko HMI branches.

Bobby Nasution assessed that HMI cadres were young Islamic intellectuals who came from campus with two tasks, namely caliphs on earth to spread Islamic symbols and as Indonesian citizens to continue to maintain the sovereignty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia by continuing to work together.

"I hope that through the XXIV Musda, the new Head of the North Sumatra HMI Badko will be elected. It will produce a good work program that can synergize," said Bobby Nasution.

Meanwhile, the Head of the North Sumatra HMI Badko, Alwi Hasbih Silalahi said that the XXIV Musda was held in the context of leadership regeneration at the North Sumatra HMI Badko for the sustainability of the organization.

Later, he continued, it was hoped that between the two candidates who were elected to be the Chair of the North Sumatra HMI Badko for the 2021-2023 period could continue the programs that had not been implemented.

"We hope that the new Head of the Badko HMI of North Sumatra can become a critical leader and synergize with all elements of society, especially the local government," he said.
