Ministry Of Transportation: End Of Year Mobility Restriction Technical Rules Are Not Final

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) stated that there is currently no decision regarding the technical arrangement for the ban on homecoming during PPKM Level 3 which coincides with the 2021 Christmas and 2022 New Year holidays.

Director-General of Land Transportation Budi Setiyadi said that public travel restrictions are still being discussed at the ministry and agency levels.

"For Nataru tomorrow there will be a meeting between the coordinating minister and ministers, regarding the Christmas and New Year's transportation it is not final yet," said Budi Setiyadi at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Banten, quoted by Antara, Thursday, November 25.

Budi explained that decisions regarding restrictions on people's movements will be regulated in the Circular of the Task Force (Satgas) for Handling COVID-19.

According to him, after the rules from the COVID-19 Task Force are issued, the Ministry of Transportation will only develop technical regulations for community movement.

Director-General Budi has not been able to confirm the scale of the travel restrictions for residents at the end of the year. Nevertheless, he ensured that according to the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs, all regions in Indonesia from December 24 to January 2, 2022, PPKM Level 3.

"We will adjust from the Circular of the COVID-19 Task Force," he concluded.

The government implemented Level 3 Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) at Christmas and New Year (Nataru) to anticipate the spike in COVID-19. This decision is stated in the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 62 of 2021.
