The KPK Investigates The Expensiveness Of Formula E In DKI Jakarta

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) continues to investigate allegations of corruption related to the international Formula E racing event in DKI Jakarta. One thing that is being investigated is the issue of the flow of funds and the expensiveness of paying to the organizers.

"That information will be investigated later by investigators. The reasons why the DKI Provincial Government paid so much and where did the transfer go, whether to parties who really have the authority, yes, for example, the owner of the rights to Formula E and so on," said Deputy KPK chairman Alexander Marwata told reporters, Thursday, November 25.

As for the cost of this payment, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government paid 122.102 million pounds or IDR 2.3 trillion to the organizers of this racing event. This price is considered more expensive because other countries only spend IDR 1.7 billion to IDR 17 billion.

"That's what investigators will investigate later. Why do they have to pay such a high price and so on," said Alexander.

He asked the public to be patient because the team is currently still working. However, Alexander ensured that the corruption allegations would be resolved if proven.

"In the process of investigation, we have invited several people to provide precise information and clarifications related to various issues and rumors received by the KPK," he said.

Previously reported, the KPK admitted that it was investigating and had examined several parties related to allegations of corruption related to the implementation of the Formula E racing event.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Inspectorate Syaefulloh Hidayat and President Director of PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) Widi Amanasto visited the KPK's Red and White building on Tuesday, November 9.

They came to submit a 600-page document related to the plan to organize Formula E. This was intended to provide support for monitoring corruption prevention (MCP) efforts to the KPK leadership.

The document contains the approval process to the preparations needed by the KPK to obtain detailed and complete information in investigating allegations of corruption in the planned international event.
