BADUNG - A video circulated of a man on the Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) Cultural Park Statue, Badung, Bali, with a narration of trying to commit suicide.

This video was edited to add a voice asking for help. There was also a voice asking the person who was above the GWK statue to come down.

GM Marketing Communication & Event GWK Cultural Park, Andre Prawiradisastra said, the video was just edit or a hoax. The person above the GWK statue is a maintenance officer.

"It's routine maintenance. So it's our employees who every year maintain (carry) the skin of the GWK statue. Once a year, because it's the rainy season, so we're doing maintenance this month", said Andre, when contacted, Wednesday, November 24.

Andre confirmed that the video from TikTok that was circulating had been edited with the addition of a voice asking for help.

"It's a recording from Tiktok and there is a background where people are screaming and coincidentally someone is recording, zoomed in on the GWK Statue. It keeps mixing and it looks as if they are screaming, even though it's normal, this is maintenance", he said.

They are investigating the creator of the video. GWK hopes that people will use social media wisely.

"Be wise in social media because there are so many issues that don't match reality", said Andre.
