Riau Islands Police Move To Investigate Allegations Of Persecution Of Batam Aviation Vocational High School Students

BATAM - The Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Riau Islands Police (Kepri) has begun to investigate the alleged abuse of students at the Aviation Vocational School in Batam City which has recently gone viral.

The Head of Public Relations of the Riau Islands Police, Kombes Harry Goldenhardt, said that the investigation of this case was based on the police report number: LP-B/138/XI/2021/SPKT-Kepri, dated November 19, 2021.

"This is a form of our quick response in following up on news related to the alleged criminal act of violence or abuse that occurred at the SMK," he said as quoted by Antara, Saturday, November 20.

According to him, there were five victims in the reported case, namely the initials IN 17 years old, SA initials 18 years old, RA 17 years old, GA 17 years old and the initials FA 17 years old. The five people are students from Batam Aviation Vocational School.

Currently, he said, investigators continue to work and conduct an investigation. From the results of the interim examination, these victims received violent treatment from grade 1 to grade 3 victims. They received violent treatment due to the violations they committed. There were several treatments experienced by victims such as verbal violence, physical violence including violence using chains against these students.

Responding to this, he continued, the Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Riau Islands Police had sent a letter requesting a visum et repertum, then had also gone to the location and confiscated the photo document of the victim when he was chained.

"Then we also invite each related party and also know firsthand what happened to these victims," he said.

He is very concerned in the world of education, things like this should not actually happen. The investigation process into this case continues and when two strong pieces of evidence are found, the investigator will increase the investigation process into an investigation.

Article 80 Jo Article 76 letter C of Law No. 35 of 2014 concerning the Protection of Women and Children is also applied to the alleged criminal act, in addition, investigators will also apply Article 354 of the Criminal Code concerning Serious Persecution with the threat of punishment above 5 years in prison," said the Head of Public Relations of the Riau Islands Police.
